Most long-term members of WME were good friends with Rev. Winston Gray
of Jamaica. When Winston died four years ago, many people wondered
what would happen to the church of which he was the long tenured
pastor. Winston’s widow Tossy and their son Mark have assumed the
pastoral duties of the church and have done a great job. The church
just hosted its first conference after Winston’s death, and Evelyn,
Kari and I were invited guests. I am thrilled to report that the
church is in better condition today than I have ever known.
The attendance is up. Rev. Tossy Gray has done a good job of
ministering to the older generation while Rev. Mark and his wife
Keryann are reaching many new young people.
The praise and worship is the best I have seen in Duncans. The music
is excellent, and the praise team does a great job of leading the
people into the presence of God. Both the choir and the youth drama
team also gave wonderful performances.
The people have graciously received me and my preaching and teaching
over the years, but I have never experienced the attentiveness that I
received in this convention. The people listened intently and at
least half of the congregation participated in taking notes of the
sermon.
The church has just finished a complete renovation of their sanctuary.
They tore off the original roof, raised the sanctuary walls 18” and
replaced the old roof with a new roof designed to withstand hurricane
winds. They finished the inside with an open beam structure which is
not only beautiful, but also keeps the tropical heat far above the
people. New lighting, ceiling fans and a new paint job both inside
and out finished the new look. I was very impressed with the quality
of the construction workmanship. The church looked beautiful. They
have done a great job.
The project is almost debt free. If you would like to donate anything
toward their new sanctuary, every penny you send will go to them.
Simply mark your offering for the new church in Jamaica and we will
forward it to them. Thank you for your generosity.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Haitian Relief earlier this year. We have been able to help many thousands of people both spiritually and physically because of your generosity.
Coming up on October16-23, WME is partnering with Dominic Russo Ministries for a major evangelistic event. This is a tremendous opportunity to impact a nation for Christ. Here are some of the activities already planned:
A major evangelistic outreach in Carrefour, Haiti. This town is a part of the Port-au-Prince area. Crowds of up to 40,000 are expected nightly.
A Fire Conference to train pastors for more effective ministry.
A Ladies Conference to focus on ladies in ministry.
Construction of a 400-seat church built to earthquake codes.
Medical teams treating the sick.
Food distribution to hungry people.
Ministry to schools and orphanages.
As you can see, this is a major undertaking, and we are excited to be a part of this great event. We are now looking for pastors who would like to send short-term teams to help. Please contact the WME office or Dominic Russo Ministries to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to impact Haiti for Christ.
